Tshwane to be host city for Attractions Africa 2017 conference

We are pleased to be able to bring you the news that Attractions Africa 2017 will be taking place in Tshwane!

The Tshwane Tourism Association will play a supportive role for the conference assisting the conference organising committee to ensure that the conference is the most spectacular in its history and showcasing just how diverse, exciting and attractive our city is!

Please keep an eye out for e-mails regarding this initiative as members will be asked to submit proposals to be service providers, sponsors, hosts etc for this conference – innovation and pricing is key so put your thinking caps on in the interim and begin to conceptualise what you can offer to make this conference in Tshwane positively unique!

For background information you can view the 2016 conference website where you can find photos, copies of the presentations and information on becoming a sponsor.

Further information and requests for proposals will be forthcoming as soon as the 2017 dates have been finalised.

TTA hosts its first Attractions Chapter Meeting

TTA had its inaugural attraction chapter members meeting on 23 June 2016. Representatives from the various attraction members of TTA attended the meeting and had an opportunity to brainstorm and share ideas on the attraction sectors contribution growing tourism to the City.

The speakers at the meeting were Craig Allenby from the National Zoological Gardens, who highlighted the importance of attractions in the tourism value chain pointing out that we need to motivate those businesses in the city who do not see themselves as attractions but in fact are really tourist attractions. Craig, as a founding committee member of the annual Attractions Africa conference, also gave background on the conference and its importance and relevance!

Paul Durvege was the second speaker, gave feedback as a board member for TTA and as an attendee from the Attractions Africa Conference 2016 which took place in Cape Town. "I was impressed with the professionalism, consistency and the standard that the conference carried throughout the two days, I enjoyed the key concept theme which was that people should sell their story. This applies to not only attractions but to hotels as well, tourists want to have experiences" Paul shared.
