Attraction members are reminded to register for the Attractions Africa Seminar to be hosted in the city on 9 September 2015. The Gauteng Attractions Seminar is the first in a series of regional seminars for Attraction Managers and all those in the business of attracting, retaining and satisfying visitors.
Attractions Africa's objective is to create educational and networking opportunities for Attraction Managers as well as to provide intelligence on trends, benchmarks and best practise, as well as case studies and local examples of excellence.

The Sports and Events Tourism Exchange, taking place from 27 to 29 October 2015 at the Protea Fire & Ice! Menlyn, will run an International Hosted Buyers programme giving pre-selected international buyers the opportunity to visit South Africa, attend the table top exhibition and interact with exhibitors through pre-scheduled meetings and networking events. Hosted buyer categories are Golf Tour Operators, Event Right Holders and Sports Tour Operators.
The key objective of the programme is to connect international buyers with South African Products and Stakeholders in the Sports and Events Tourism Industries with the aim of securing more events business for South Africa.

Congratulations to the employers of Menyln Boutique Hotel, for completing the 1ST Aid Level 1 Course. The training included representatives from management, housekeeping, front office and kitchen staff from the hotel and it was held at the hotel for two days.
General Manager: Paul Durverge said "the importance of having employers undertaking the course was to ensure that Menlyn Boutique Hotel is a safe environment for guests and employees, also it is great skills that the employees can apply at home or when in the public to help save a life or prevent further injury".
South Africa lags behind the many countries when it comes to responsible tourism, while a lack of accredited tourism products make it difficult to package for tourists seeking to travel responsible. This emerged from a panel discussion at this year's SATSA Conference. Rung Button, Sales & Operations Director at ITT Inspirations, pointed out that responsible purchasing is a way of life in Europe, with many consumers opting to pay extra for products that have been Fair Trade certified. She said it was unfortunate that there was not enough tourism products that are certified.
