The TTA Guesthouse Chapter Meeting recently had its second chapter meeting this year, at the Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel which set out the most amazing breakfast, the staff made everyone feel completely at home. The theme for the meeting was on 'Managing businesses optimally and How can you work smarter NOT harder?'.
The speakers for the day were Daneel Lombaard from Olive Insurance Brokers and Hendriette Krause from Q2B Solutions.
During their presentations both speakers unpacked ways and tips on how businesses can make daily lives easier and run businesses better and more efficiently.
The speakers offered valuable insight into some of the following subjects:
- New options with regard to booking systems - so exciting!
- Management reporting - doesn't have to be so boring!
- What do some booking systems offer that we are not currently using?
- Collecting, managing and responding to guest reviews - doesn't have to be painful.
- Receiving payments – Yay! For payments.
- What should be insured and what are things to watch out for regarding insurance policies - Much more interesting than you would think.
As always, our members enjoyed some valuable networking time before and after the meeting and new connections and friendships were made.
The first THFF meeting for this year was held at the beautiful Premier Hotel Pretoria on 27 June 2018, where members received such a warm welcome and exceptional service. This was the first meeting held under the new chapter head Deon Jacobs, Maintenance Supervisor from City Lodge Lynnwood.
The meeting was well attended by the targeted attendees, this included maintenance managers and housekeepers and relevant staff in the tourism and hospitality industry as this platform is specifically designated for them.
The meeting was engaging and allowed for members to share information and suggestions on specific discussion topics on different suppliers and contractors in the industry.
Deon Jacobs stated that these sessions are important and needed because it can get lonely down in the basement. He hopes that this forum will be beneficial and grow, he also added that he hopes that members will get to know each other and be able to simply pick up the phone and assist each other when a fellow member seeks assistance with any maintenance issues because he believes this industry is about collaboration and not competition.
