Revised TTA vision, objectives and benefits

The Association has recently reviewed its strategic direction to be in line with and supportive of other local, regional and national bodies both private and public. The reviewed structure of the association now includes chapters relevant to sectors in the tourism industry which will provide richer benefits for members. The revised vision, objectives and benefits of the association can be viewed here. Members are urged to submit their chapter representative's contact details to Vanessa as soon as possible using the membership form.

Members Meeting

An informative and exciting members meeting was held on Tuesday 7 June 2011 at the CSIR International Convention Centre. A presentation on the Gautrain which opens in the city within the next 30 days was given by Bombela Concession Company Pty (Ltd) and the Sud Afrika magazine which is a tourism magazine for the german market was introduced to members. The association will be disseminating Gautrain promotional material to members for their clients and guests and will be hosting a workshop to collate and respond to feedback on the Gautrain and work on plans. 2011 Imvelo Responsible Tourism Awards

The 10th annual Imvelo Responsible Tourism Awards programme, which honours businesses that implement sustained responsible tourism programmes, is now open for entries. Organised by the Federated Hospitality Association of Southern Africa (FEDHASA) in conjunction with the Department of Tourism, Absa, the Department of Water Affairs, the Industrial Development Corporation, Eskom and Don't Waste Services, Imvelo is open to any type of tourism or hospitality business in Africa.

Accessible Tourism Market Study

Urban-Econ has been appointed by The Department of Trade and Industry to conduct a market feasibility study on Accessible Tourism. They are trying to estimate the size and economic contribution of the Accessible Tourism market as well as the challenges confronted by domestic tourism service providers with regard to accessibility for the elderly, persons with impairments, families with babies and small children, persons with language difficulties, etc. This will form the basis of the Accessible Tourism national strategy.
